Katie's Kids
Each year the Katie Haumesser Foundation will help children with special needs. Here are the children from the Early Childhood Education Center (Clermount County Educational Service Center) who will receive a special donation from the Casino Royale Event in 2010. Bradley
Bradley is a middle school student with autism which limits his ability to communicate. The Level 7 Communication device could enable him to communicate with others at school, at home and in the community. “Bradley loves to go outside and jump, swing, ride his bike, or visit the neighbor. This would be nice if I didn’t have to guess what he really wants to do. Bradley loves to do a lot and is he could communicate in more detail that would be awesome”, says Mom.
Danielle
Danielle is a preschooler with a severe language delay. She tries to speak; points at everything; she tries to engage. Danielle also has wonderful receptive language skills. The Level 7 Communication device will enable Danielle to communicate with others at school, at home and in the community. “Danielle also loves to play dress-up in dramatic play”, says Dad.
ECEC Student
This child is a middle school student with multiple disabilities. Although she has a wheelchair, an adaptable lounge chair will allow her greater access to activities in school and at home.
Josh
Josh is an elementary student with a severe communication delay and sensory issues. A weighted vest calms him and allows him to focus on task. The pressure weighted sensory vest would facilitate his inclusion in school and community activities. “Josh is one of the most lovable and unique children in the world. Sometimes due to his disability he is unable to show off those qualities in large groups of family as well in public places. We could not be more grateful for receiving a gift that we feel will greatly impact his chances of showing off those qualities,” says Mom.
Taylor
Taylor is an elementary student with a severe language delay. The Level 7 Communication devise could enable her to communicate with others at school, at home and in the community. “Taylor is fond of singing, and wants to make friends. It is very had for her to interact with others due to her communication which in turn causes anxiety attacks. She is like every normal girl-she dresses up, plays video games, and enjoys riding a bike. She gives great hugs, loves to cook during prep work. Please give her the opportunity to succeed in later years to be as normal as everyone else. Her bright light often gets dimmed due to her language delay,” says Mom.
